celeb2The cruise industry may be behind the curve in terms of online booking and distribution flair, but Celebrity Cruises apparently will be getting fairly mod with its first Celebrity iLounge when it launches the Celebrity Eclipse in April.

The lounge will position the MacBook Pro and iPods at 26 workstations, and certified staff members will supposedly be available to rectify all glitches because they’ve received 125 hours of training in operating systems, apps and other products.

And, for PCers who wouldn’t be able to distinguish a Mac from a Whopper, the staff “will be poised to illustrate to guests the differences between Macs and PCs,” Celebrity says.

The line will also be offering iLounge loungers courses in “do-it-yourself photo books, movie editing and web design, through programs including iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and iWeb.”

Celebrity Cruises is an authorized Apple reseller so iPods, MacBooks and accessories will be available for purchase, as well.

The Celebrity Eclipse will be the third entry in the line’s Solstice Class fleet.

The fourth ship, the Celebrity Silhouette, will also get an iLounge at launch in 2011, as will a fifth ship, slated for its debut in 2012.

The 122,000-ton Celebrity Eclipse will accommodate 2,850 passengers and is slated to launch April 29.
